Craig Avery

After 25 years dedicated to defending insurance companies and their policyholders, Craig joined Wood Craig & Avery in February, 2017. During his tenure as an insurance defense attorney, Craig gained extensive experience litigating a variety of cases, including car crashes, tractor-trailer accidents, and premises liability cases involving slip and falls and dog bites.

Acting as sole trial counsel, and often opposing some of the best personal injury trial lawyers in Georgia, Craig successfully handled over 350 jury trials in 38 Georgia counties; cases involving soft tissue injury, serious injury, and wrongful death. He also assisted insurance adjusters in evaluating and resolving thousands of more claims through negotiated settlements and mediations. The experience Craig acquired as a defense attorney provides the invaluable expertise and insight necessary to maximize recoveries for current and future clients.

In fact, within the first six months after joining Wood Craig & Avery, Craig utilized his prior experience to obtain verdicts in favor of two clients that exceeded the insurance companies’ final offers by 385% and 180%, respectively. Additionally, in his first eight months as a plaintiff attorney, he successfully negotiated over one million dollars in settlements for deserving clients. He looks forward to continuing in a practice dedicated to representing regular folks who have been seriously injured through the negligence of others and using his experience to level the playing field against insurance companies.

Craig is “AV” rated by his peers, the top designation for ethics and legal ability available from the legal publication Martindale Hubbell. Also, he has been named as a Super Lawyer from 2011 to the present signifying that he is one of the top 5% of lawyers in the State of Georgia. When not practicing law, Craig enjoys playing golf and tennis, and spending time with his family and friends.
