Georgia targeting DUI over Fourth of July holiday
Law Enforcement officials around the state of Georgia announce that DUI will be targeted over the fourth of July holiday.
The holiday period officially begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2015 and runs through midnight, Sunday, July 5, 2015. Unfortunately, the highways are treacherous over the holiday weekend. The highest number of fatalities occurred in 1972 when thirty-four people were killed on the roadways over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Predictions are that more than two thousand crashes will occur on Georgia roadways during the holiday period and nearly one thousand people will be injured. State and local law enforcement will enforce zero tolerance for driving under the influence. Georgia State Patrol personnel state that if you are caught drunk driving, you will go to jail.
